Why I Run: My Journey to Fitness and Peace

Like many great journeys, my running story started with a bit of a challenge. My daughter, Mae, a runner in high school, faced a tough knee injury that required two surgeries. To support her through her physical therapy and to just spend more time with her, I started running. At first, I hated it. But my personal motto has always been, "if you like it, I love it." So, I kept showing up, and before I knew it, I actually loved it.

Running with Mae became my biggest motivation. It was our time together, a shared space to talk, listen, and grow. Through those miles, running became so much more than just a physical activity. It became a powerful tool for my mental health, helping me navigate life's challenges, including the physical and emotional changes of menopause.

In this journey, I've learned that you don't have to be a fast runner to be a runner. Yet, I’ve surprised myself, breaking personal records for my age group. This has been a testament to a powerful truth: you can do anything you set your mind to. It’s mind over matter most days, but you can’t deny that you are physically capable of it. As **Philippians 4:13** says, **"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."** This verse has become a cornerstone of my running and my life, reminding me that my strength is renewed not by my own will alone, but by a higher power.
