My First Race of 2025: The Charlie Post Classic 5K
January 11, 2025 by Cyndee Cave
My first race of 2025 was the Charlie Post Classic on beautiful Sullivan's Island, SC. While the scenery was breathtaking, the weather was not on my side. The frigid air hit me as soon as I stepped out, and I knew this race would be a battle against the elements. A few hundred feet into the 5K, my lungs felt tight, and a burning sensation in my chest made me question if I could finish.
As I struggled to breathe, a verse came to mind: **"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."** (Philippians 4:13). It was an instant reminder that my strength comes from a source far greater than my physical body. With each step, I focused on that truth, turning my pain into a prayer. My stride became a rhythm of trust, a testament to the fact that God was giving me the strength to endure.
The cold air and tight lungs were my Goliath, but I was not fighting alone. I pictured each breath as a surrender, each footfall a step of faith. I finished the race not because of my own will, but because I leaned on the one who carries me. I crossed the finish line with a sense of peace and gratitude, knowing that every challenge is an opportunity to rely on His strength.
